The Danobatgroup supports the training of Tecnun engineers
The agreement will enable the future engineers to gain a realistic and practical in-depth knowledge of Industry 4.0 processes.
Antxon López Usoz, Director of Innovation of DANOBATGROUP, and Iñigo Puente, director of TECNUN, have signed a collaboration agreement that will provide the future engineers with first-hand knowledge of projects and experiences of the leading machine-tool manufacturer in Spain.
With this agreement, DANOBATGROUP, following its own strategy in human resources, seeks to participate in the training of new engineers according to market requirements. The industrial group exploits its capabilities to the full to provide these new engineers with an enhanced understanding of the machine tool sector and an opportunity to value their professional development in a sector that requires personnel that are highly qualified and technologically in the forefront.
To do this, DANOBATGROUP, one of the leading firms in the sector in Europe, opens its doors to students from TECNUN to perform work placements and end-of-degree and master projects to thus become involved in the training of young students in the Research Training Program framework of the Engineering College that run a program that offers the opportunity to work on cutting edge research and join research projects carried out by CEIT-IK4.
The agreement establishes that the company from Guipuzcoa, part of the MONDRAGON CORPORATION, supports TECNUN through seminars, technical workshops on certain subjects and visits from students to the production shopfloors of the DANOBATGROUP. A company with more than 1,200 employees embarked on an intelligent manufacturing project, also called Industry 4.0 or advanced manufacturing. In this project, the incorporation of new information, communication and robotics technologies for the digitalization of the industrial processes will be essential. A requirement that needs highly qualified professional people, such as students trained by TECNUN.
Innovation is, and will even be more so in the future, a key element in the strategy of the Basque industrial group. Proof of this is the fact that nearly 10 per cent of its turnover - more than 20 million Euros - is destined to research and development. TECNUN-School of Engineering of the University of Navarra has trained more than 7,000 engineers and over 600 doctoral theses have been defended in their classrooms in its more than 50 years of existence. The School offers degree studies and a Master in industrial engineering, telecommunications, bio-engineering and production. Former students hold positions of responsibility in both local and multinational companies, in sectors ranging from industry to financial services, telecommunications or biotechnology. The long-standing collaboration with the company resulted in setting up the Technological Centre CEIT-IK4 in 1982 that researches and develops R&D&I projects for companies and trains young PhD Students.
