Danobatgroup’s commitment to fostering talent in STEAM fields and bringing industrial reality closer to the next generation of advanced manufacturing professionals were some of the key points at the ceremony of the TFG-TFM Mondragon 2024 awards yesterday.
The third edition of the competition organised by Mondragon this year featured a notable new addition in its final event, held at the facilities of Soraluce, a cooperative company part of the industrial group Danobatgroup.
A key highlight of the day was the InpaktuDay event, a unique networking and learning experience that brought together young talent and cooperatives in the Mondragon ecosystem including those from Danobatgroup.
During the morning, the 52 finalists representing 17 universities from around the world had the opportunity to visit the cooperative facilities and gain insight into how cutting-edge projects are implemented in real-world industrial environments.
Winning projects
Later, at Soraluce’s facilities in Bergara (Gipuzkoa), a work session was held to understand the challenges and needs of Mondragón cooperatives, where each finalist shared how their project could contribute. After a tour of Soraluce’s facilities, the awards ceremony took place, during which the sponsoring companies and the jury recognized the talent and innovation of the participants.
In the case of the “Digital Transformation Award”, sponsored by Danobatgroup and aimed at highlighting the two best proposals in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence, automation and robotics, Mario Sanz Guerreo for his master's project "Peak Attention U-Net: Attention-Enhanced ECG Delineation Model for Peak Detection" and the team formed by Enrique Queipo de Llano Burgos, Marius Ciurcau and Alejandro Paz Olalla for their final degree project "Explainable Artificial Intelligence for the recognition of hip fractures" obtained the first and second prize respectively.
This year’s edition of the TFG-TFM Mondragon 2024 Awards marked a new milestone, with a record participation of 305 students from 57 local, national and international universities spanning countries such as Brazil, the United States, Norway, and Sweden.
Submissions included 151 final degree and master’s projects from international universities and 154 from major Basque universities.
