DANOBATGROUP awards a TECNUN project to promote applied research in industrial manufacturing
-
The machine tool manufacturer chose this singular project by a group of students from the Higher School of Engineering of the University of Navarra.
-
The award-winning study addresses automation of machining of components for industrial use.
DANOBATGROUP seeks to boost technological research and innovation in advanced manufacturing processes. Every year the business group recognises the best project in industrial development carried out by students of the TECNUN Master´s Degree in Industrial Engineering, at the Higher School of Engineering of the University of Navarra.
To aspire to the award, the 60 students of the Master had to work by teams and respond to a common challenge posed by the machine tool manufacturer: the design of a machine for machining of oil&gas flanges in an automated manufacturing environment.
The different teams worked individually with the mission of developing a technological solution to solve the problem and yesterday, 20 of february, they defended their project in front of a jury made up of DANOBATGROUP professionals and the IK4-IDEKO technology center, the Basque Group´s innovation engine.
In its ruling, the members of the jury took into account the details of the solution presented, the presentation made by the project managers, the research and documentation work carried out and the follow-up of the instructions set by the teachers.
The development of these projects and the participation in the awards has allowed students to get to know the operation of real industrial environments counting on the support of the professionals of DANOBATGROUP and IK4-IDEKO, who guide them through theoretical and practical training on the operation and development of automated manufacturing systems, industrial robotics or design and precision engineering.
The prize awarded by DANOBATGROUP forms part of the collaboration agreement signed by the industrial group and TECNUN in December 2015 with the aim of bringing the academic and professional world closer to each other to be able to transfer the knowledge acquired in the classroom to real industrial manufacturing environments.
The alliance between the two entities consists of offering students the opportunity to develop a technological project in the DANOBATGROUP facilities and the technological centre of the group, IK4-IDEKO.
The awards, organized each year, seek to highlight the excellence of the Master´s students, promote their technical knowledge and enhance cross-cutting skills such as inventiveness, analytical skills and teamwork.
