The Ada Byron Awards, sponsored by Danobatgroup, present new female role models in STEM fields

Having female role models in STEM fields is essential to pave the way for the next generation. With this in mind, the Ada Byron Awards for Women in Technology, sponsored by the leading machine-tool industrial group  Danobatgroup, present new role models every year to encourage interest in scientific-technological vocations among young women. 

This morning, the latest edition of the awards ceremony was attended by Nerea Aranguren, CEO of Danobatgroup, to highlight the group's commitment to promoting female scientific talent and expanding STEM opportunities for women. 

Patricia Horcajada Cortés, head of the Advanced Porous Materials Unit at IMDEA Energía and a leading figure in Materials Science, received the award in the senior category, while Alba González Álvarez, who holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and founded the startup Xcure Surgical, received the award in the junior category. 

Danobatgroup’s sponsorship aligns with a series of initiatives it actively supports, all aimed at similar goals. These include Gladys Sariak, IMH Sariak, the Mondragon TFG/TFM awards, and the First Lego League competition among others.

The eleventh edition of the Ada Byron Awards, organised annually by the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Deusto, held a gala this morning in Bilbao that was attended by Jaione Ganzarain Epelde, Vice-Minister of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability of the Basque Government, Teresa Laespada, Deputy for Employment, Social Inclusion and Equality of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, Juan José Etxebarria, Rector of the University of Deusto, and Asier Perallos, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and President of the Jury.
